The Diplomatic Princess
In a Nutshell
A princess saves her kingdom from a fearsome dragon without raising a sword.
Princess Seraphina was unlike the other royals. While her brothers practiced sword fighting, she studied history, languages, and diplomacy. When a massive, scale-covered dragon landed on the mountain overlooking their kingdom, the King immediately ordered his army to prepare for battle.
"Wait, Father," Seraphina urged. "Let me speak to it first. A war will only bring destruction to our people." The King, though hesitant, allowed her to go, guarded by only a single knight.
She climbed the steep mountain path and stood before the towering beast. Instead of drawing a weapon, she bowed deeply. "Mighty one," she called out in the ancient draconic tongue she had studied in the archives. "Why do you threaten our home?"
The dragon, surprised to hear a human speak its language, lowered its head. "I do not wish to threaten," it rumbled. "My nesting grounds in the north were destroyed by an avalanche. I only seek a safe place to rest."
Seraphina smiled. She offered the dragon a large, uninhabited plateau on the eastern border of the kingdom, in exchange for its protection against invaders. The dragon agreed, and the kingdom gained a powerful ally. Seraphina proved that true courage isn’t just about fighting; it’s about finding a peaceful path when everyone else chooses war.
